With 14 years of pure organic growth and no external investors, Maximus is now the only privately owned major UK based Out-Of-Home advertising company. 

Originally formed as a premium billboard developer specialising in City centres, we have since grown to become the market leader in mega sites across the UK, with an ever-expanding network that includes some of Europe’s most iconic locations.

Our heritage in new billboard site development is the foundation of our business and stems from landlord relationships that include all sectors of the property market including funds, public companies, government agencies and private landlords.

Through delivering time after time we have built a reputation for excellence and from this we have gained the trust of many of the World’s largest companies who we are proud to name as our clients. This unique position gives us access to an unrivalled portfolio of property enabling us to provide some of the best locations and networks for advertisers to showcase their brands to the world in a truly memorable way.

Sole trader Ashley John Smatt commences site finding

2002

The erection of paper and paste classic plywood billboards commences around East London

2003

First back to back deal reached with Primesight on Commercial Road

2004

Formation of King Media Ltd

Retained by Clear Channel as exclusive independent site developer

2005

Retained by Outdoor Plus as site developer

2006

Formation of King Media Management, representing landlords in the maximisation of outdoor media income on large property portfolios

Assets under media management reached 12 billion pounds

2007

Launch of large format Mega Banner division at Fulham High Street in partnership with Clear Channel

2009

King ‘Live’ special events division is launched with the Notting Hill Carnival and Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race

2010

Agreements reached with all major outdoor media buyers, planners and agencies

2011

First self–sold Mega Banner developed at Fulham Broadway with the launch of the Beatles on iTunes

2012

King Out-Of-Home forms 5 Divisions: Mega Banners, Metro Banners, Live, Roadside, Retail

2013

Awarded Liverpool City Council contract

2014

UK wide expansion completed with the launch of our first national campaign with Confused.com

2015

First roadside digital assets unveiled in London with the M4 Max Tower
