‘And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next’.
We have all been in that situation. The marketing team shout over ‘We are doing a thought piece on the new brand, we want you to write something?’. I am not a copy writer and this isn’t something that I do everyday. Fortunately, we have plenty to talk about.
When I first started putting down my thoughts about our new brand name all I could think about was the film Gladiator and Russell Crowe (Maximus) and his powerful quote.
“Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next”.
Unfortunately, I am not going to write about my appreciation of Russell Crowe in Gladiator, but more why Banners play such a pivotal role in Outdoor advertising and the transition from King to Maximus. Did you know the dictionary definition of Maximus is the ‘Largest’?
First some context……
Over the last 5 years, Out of Home has been the fastest growing channel outside of digital. Digital Out Of Home has driven this growth through heavy investment in new products. This is only going to get bigger with Digital Out Of Home expected to be making up to 40% of overall Out Of Home spend in 2017 (Talon 2016).
I love digital Out Of Home and what it can deliver for clients with regards to flexibility and immediacy. At the same time, I have always been passionate about the genuine fame Out Of Home can deliver for a client through Mega Banners. In this instance size definitely matters and what better way than to share your message and place it on a huge creative canvass which is unavoidable and delivers the wow factor.
The great news is that fame is back in fashion and this means banners are now a must have for clients who want to make some noise. Especially branding, product launches or driving PR and word of mouth. This has only become bigger as clients look to increase the scale and ownership of their Out of Home impact.
At Maximus, we are on a journey and I am very proud to be part of it.
The transformation of the business will be huge and will be of benefit to all of our partners. We are transparent, always doing what we say we are going to do. We are proud to help brands to deliver a huge impact. At the same time, I like to think we are a bit different and original. The whole team are excited about the business vision and direction.
Follow our journey across 2017 as we continue to make brands famous using our super premium mega banners.
