Since its inception in 1964 as a small festival for local West Indian immigrants, the Notting Hill Carnival has become a globally recognised event, now attracting over 2 million visitors each year. Acknowledged as Europe’s biggest street carnival, it has now grown into one of the world’s most spectacular festivals of music and culture. The parades wind through three miles of Notting Hill’s major streets, flanked by visitors jostling to get a look at the visual feast of exotic floats, magnificent costumes and pulsating dancers.
Music is at the heart of the event, with traditional steel bands, soca and calypso musicians, plus contemporary sounds filling the air for miles around. The static sound systems play anything from reggae to indie, funk, house, dub, RnB and much more. Live stages also feature local bands, dh’s and chart topping international artists from around the world. Complimenting the sounds, there’s nothing quite like the smell of traditional Caribbean food sold at hundreds of stalls lining the streets, adding authenticity to the most vibrant, sensory and exciting summer day out in the UK.
We have compiled a package of the finest outdoor advertising sites on and around the carnival route. This opportunity represents the first time that any brand has been able to become seriously involved in the Notting Hill Carnival, enabling them to take dominance and virtual sponsorship of the event. The sites have been carefully selected with outdoor advertising criteria in mind- visibility, location and dwell time. With its diverse, captive, young and fashionable audience, the carnival represents one of the most incredible outdoor media opportunities on the planet!
